Bifold closet door rubbing or off track? Identify the hardware first
A bifold closet door that drags, hangs crooked or leaves its track needs more than a request to 'replace the roller.' Its pivots, guides, hinges and track do different jobs. Identify the installed system and the condition of its attachments before ordering a repair kit.

Start with the symptom you already noticed
Note whether the panels scraped the floor, caught each other, failed to sit flat when closed, or came out of their upper track. Mention recent carpet, flooring or painting work and any earlier repair. These details help define an inspection; they do not establish the cause.
If a panel is loose, leaning or partly detached, stop using the door and keep people clear. Do not run it through another opening cycle for a video, lift it back into place or remove hardware. Photos taken from a safe position are enough to start.
The part near the floor may be a pivot bracket
Ask the repairer to identify the fixed pivot locations, moving guides, panel hinges and track separately. A lower bracket is not automatically a 'floor guide': Johnson lists a floor-mounted bottom pivot bracket separately from its top/bottom guide. Buying by location or appearance can select the wrong component.
Include a wide view of the opening and safely visible hardware at the top and bottom. Leave concealed details for the visit rather than moving an unstable door to expose them.
Match the hardware family, not just the closet width
Johnson's 1700 system uses surface-mounted pivots and guides, while its 1825 uses tap-in hardware. The two families also have different panel-weight and thickness specifications. A kit from the same manufacturer is not automatically a replacement for the parts in your door.
Prime-Line's N 7534 kit, for example, specifies doors 1 to 1-3/8 inches thick and up to 50 pounds, and covers one side set of doors. Those limits and package contents belong to that kit. Have the supplier confirm the exact replacement against your track, attachment method and panels; matching one measurement is insufficient.
Request a repair assessment with clear boundaries
Send Coast & Craft any available brand or model, the photos, number of panels and symptom history. If records do not identify the hardware, ask for identification before parts are ordered. There is no need to remove a door to weigh it for an initial request.
- Can the existing hardware be adjusted, or which confirmed component needs replacement?
- Are the door's attachment points, brackets and track secure and suitable for reuse?
- Does the proposal include any panel, frame or finish repair?
- How will smooth movement and alignment be checked after the repair?
