Washing machine shaking or moving? Describe the pattern before choosing a repair

A washer that vibrates during spin and one that moves across the floor need different descriptions. Note when the problem started, what was being washed and whether anything changed around the machine. Those details help distinguish installation checks from a load issue or an appliance service call.

Describe movement, not just noise

Whirlpool explains that some shaking during a cycle is expected, particularly during spin, but jumping or walking across the floor can indicate a problem. Say whether you hear a sound, feel vibration nearby or see the cabinet changing position. Those observations are not interchangeable.

If the machine is moving violently, stop the cycle using its controls only if you can do so safely, and arrange assessment before further use. Do not hold it steady, reach underneath it or run another cycle just to capture a better video.

If it started after delivery or a move, review installation

Tell the installer whether this is a new machine, a relocated one or a previously stable washer that has started shaking. Include changes such as a new pedestal, a stacked dryer or recent floor work.

Samsung's installation guidance requires shipping-bolt removal before using its front-load washers and says bolt number and location vary by model. Have the installer verify the transport-hardware requirements in your machine's instructions. Do not assume every washer has the same bolts, remove unidentified fasteners or pull the appliance out to investigate.

For a stacked arrangement, supply both appliance models and the stacking-kit record if available. Samsung directs owners to the relevant manuals for compatible equipment, kit and space requirements; an apparently matching width alone is not a compatibility check.

Include the floor, feet and pedestal in the scope

Samsung calls for a firm, level surface for its washers. Whirlpool's vibration guidance includes leveling legs, their securing nuts and pedestal mounting among the support checks. A proposed visit should identify which of these will be assessed rather than promise that one foot adjustment will solve every case.

Photograph the surrounding floor and the whole installation from an accessible position. Mention a pedestal, drain pan, existing pads or contact with nearby cabinetry. Leave moving, tilting and underside inspection to the installer. If the support surface itself needs work, ask for that scope to be explained separately.

Record whether it follows a particular load

Whirlpool notes that overloading or a single bulky, highly absorbent item can cause shaking. LG also identifies laundry tangled on one side as a source of imbalance. Follow your model's loading instructions; buying hardware is not the first conclusion from one troublesome load.

  • Record the cycle and spin setting, plus whether the problem began during washing or spinning.
  • Describe the contents: ordinary mixed clothing, a bulky item or a very full load.
  • Note whether other recent loads behaved normally and copy any displayed error code exactly.
  • Use observations you already have; do not recreate severe movement as a test.

Agree on the next kind of help

LG recommends service diagnosis when vibration persists after its applicable troubleshooting checks. Continued movement does not establish which internal component has failed. Keep any installer findings so an appliance technician can see what was checked.

Send Coast & Craft the model, history and accessible photos for scope review. Confirm whether the accepted request is an installation assessment, a defined adjustment or a referral to appliance service. Include any leak as a separate symptom, rather than assuming replacement fill hoses address the vibration.
