Bidet controls in a narrow bathroom: check reach and clearance
A bidet seat can fit the toilet while leaving its controls awkward to reach beside a vanity. In a narrow bathroom, compare the control arrangement with the space you actually use. Check your seated reach, nearby moving parts and future cleaning access before choosing a model.
Compare a fixed panel with a removable remote
Brondell's Swash SE400 has a side-arm control panel. Its position makes the space beside the seat part of your buying decision. Compare the exact model's outline with the vanity, wall and toilet-paper holder; include room for your hand, rather than checking only whether the plastic housing fits.
The Swash 1400 instead uses a wireless remote with a magnetic dock. Its manual calls for a mounting position visible and reachable from the toilet. A removable remote gives you another placement option, but the holder still needs a usable home. These examples describe those models, not every bidet in either category.
Check reach from the position you use
Use the product drawing to mark a proposed control position on a photo or make a paper mock-up. From your usual seated position on the existing toilet, check whether you can comfortably see and reach that location. Note which hand you expect to use and whether reaching requires an awkward twist.
For a remote, consider both pressing buttons in its holder and lifting it out. Leave space to grasp it and return it. Ask the installer to confirm operation from the proposed location before securing the holder. In a shared bathroom, check the arrangement with the people who will use it.
Check the room with doors and lids moving
Photograph the bathroom door and adjacent vanity doors or drawers at their closest approach to the toilet. Compare that movement with the proposed seat and controls. Include projecting handles, a wastebasket and any storage that normally occupies the gap.
Also ask for the replacement seat and lid's raised positions to be checked against shelves and nearby fittings. A photo with everything closed misses these conflicts. Record the actual gaps and send the model's dimension drawing; one clearance number cannot describe every bathroom and seat.
Reserve access for cleaning and removal
The Swash 1400 manual describes removal using a release button and forward movement off its mounting plate. That makes access to the button and the removal path worth checking before purchase. Have the selected model's maintenance instructions reviewed rather than assuming all seats detach the same way.
