Replacing a shower curtain rod? Compare the curve, mounting and room clearance
A curved shower rod can move the curtain away from your shoulders, but it also moves that curtain farther into the bathroom. Before replacing a straight rod, check the space on both sides of the tub edge. Then choose how the rod will attach; curved does not automatically mean permanently mounted, and adjustable does not automatically mean tension-held.

Check what the curve occupies outside the shower
Show the toilet, vanity, door and route beside the tub in your room photo. A straight rod keeps the curtain on a straight path between its ends; a curved rod bows outward. Ask where the proposed curtain will hang relative to the nearby fixtures, including when it gathers at one end.
Delta's 42205 specification lists a six-inch bow. That is a dimension for this model, not a promise of six extra inches of usable room everywhere. Compare the selected rod's drawing with the actual bathroom and proposed mounting positions. If the bathroom already feels tight outside the tub, keeping a straight layout may be the more useful choice.
Compare tension mounting with fixed brackets
Moen's CSR2172CH is a curved tension rod with a stated 57–60-inch span and tool-free installation. The Delta 42205 is an example of a rod with wall-mounting hardware and a different 58–62-inch fit range. Neither range establishes a fit for another product, even if the packaging describes both as five-foot rods.
Measure the opening where the ends are intended to sit, if you can do so safely. Send photos of both contact areas and describe the surface. Have the installer confirm that a tension arrangement suits those surfaces or that the selected fixed brackets have suitable support. Avoid choosing tension solely because you hope to hide an existing mounting problem.
Include the curtain and the old holes in the plan
Provide the curtain and liner lengths, plus the rings or hooks you intend to use. Ask for the proposed height to be checked with the actual hanging arrangement, including where the liner will sit inside the tub. Copying the old bracket height may not produce the same result with different hardware or fabric.
Photograph existing mounting plates, visible holes and chipped tile without removing parts just to get a picture. Moen's INS10796 instructions distinguish attachments for drywall, studs and tile, and note that tile anchors are not included. Have the selected kit's requirements checked; supplied hardware is not a blanket approval for every wall.
Agree on whether old holes can be reused and what happens to any left exposed. Ask who handles the necessary finish repairs and sealing of mounting penetrations. A decorative cover is not the whole repair specification.
Make the request specific
Send Coast & Craft the product link, opening measurement, room photos and whether you want to retain the current curtain and liner. Say if the existing rod has fallen, shifted or damaged the wall so that issue can be assessed before installation.
A shower curtain rod is not a grab bar. If anyone needs support entering or using the shower, include that as a separate request for an appropriate product and installation assessment. Confirm the accepted work and visit details before ordering.
