Peel-and-stick kitchen backsplash? Check the stove area before ordering
The area behind the stove can decide whether a peel-and-stick backsplash suits your kitchen. Settle that section before buying enough sheets for the whole wall. A decorative tile's heat guidance, the range's installation requirements and the existing wall all need to work together.

Use the chosen product's stove rule
Smart Tiles says to leave an 8-inch zone without its tiles behind a stove or cooktop lacking a rear control panel or metal plate. WallPops' InHome backsplash guidance instead calls for at least 15 inches above a range without a backing. These are different product instructions, not interchangeable kitchen standards.
GE Appliances directs owners to the installation instructions for their specific range because installations vary. Have the selected wall finish and appliance requirements reviewed together. Do not choose the smaller number from another brand or assume a decorative covering changes the clearance your range requires.
Save the range model from your records and photograph the cooking area as it stands. Include countertop appliances that will sit near the new finish. Leave moving or disconnecting the range to an appropriately qualified provider if access is needed.
Draw the area the product will actually cover
On a kitchen photo, mark the proposed top and side edges, corners and the section behind the stove. If the chosen material cannot cover that whole section, decide what will finish the remaining area before ordering. Include any separate panel or trim in the compatibility review and estimate.
Check how the design meets the underside of cabinets and ends beside an open wall. Ask to see the proposed layout around outlets and switches before it is fixed. Any electrical alterations need their own qualified assessment; the decorative finish should not conceal an unresolved fitting or access problem.
Check the old backsplash as a surface
Smart Tiles permits installation over smooth, texture-free glass or ceramic tile but notes that existing grout width and depth can affect the result. WallPops recommends filling existing grout lines for its InHome tiles. A flat-looking photograph does not establish that either product can go straight over your current backsplash.
Have the surface reviewed for preparation and show any loose sections, grease buildup or damaged edges. Compare keeping the existing tile with removing it as separate scopes. Record which option the estimate covers, including repairs and any preparation waiting time required by the selected materials.
Include finishing and future removal
Smart Tiles recommends caulking the countertop-to-tile junction to reduce water infiltration. Put that joint, exposed borders and existing sealant removal into the finish discussion instead of assuming a sheet count covers everything.
WallPops notes that its InHome backsplash adhesive can remove paint when the tiles come off. If this is a temporary update, include eventual restoration in your decision. For a rental, get approval for the actual material, preparation and removal responsibilities before proceeding.
Send a complete proposal for review
Send Coast & Craft the exact backsplash link, range model, kitchen photos and marked coverage plan. List the unresolved stove-area finish, surface preparation and edge details. Confirm the accepted work and materials before purchasing; a preferred visit time still needs confirmation.
