Weak flow at one faucet? Check the pattern before replacing it
A weak stream does not automatically mean the faucet needs replacing. Start by checking whether the change affects one outlet, one temperature setting or several fixtures. Those observations help decide whether to investigate the faucet or the plumbing supplying it.

Compare ordinary use at more than one sink
With only one tap running at a time, compare the affected faucet with another sink during normal use. Note whether hot and cold behave differently. On a kitchen faucet with spray modes, record which mode is affected. A short video can show a weak, uneven or sideways stream more clearly than the phrase 'low pressure.'
Write down when it began: gradually, suddenly, after plumbing work or immediately after a new faucet was installed. If several fixtures changed together, check for a service notice from your water provider or building manager before ordering a replacement faucet.
A flow symptom does not identify the failed part
Moen's troubleshooting guidance lists several model-dependent possibilities, including debris in an aerator or cartridge and problems with a diverter or spray wand. It calls for identifying the faucet model and checking its supply. That is why replacing the entire fixture should follow an assessment, not just a glance at the stream.
For a wider problem, Irvine Ranch Water District lists possible causes including buildup, leaks and malfunctioning pressure regulators or other equipment. It recommends a licensed plumber for a suspected home water-pressure problem. Report any visible leaking or damp cabinet promptly; a faucet-cleaning request should not conceal an active leak.
Identify the aerator before trying to remove it
The aerator shapes the water leaving many faucet spouts. Moen explains that debris or mineral deposits can restrict flow or distort the pattern, and cleaning may help. Its guide distinguishes exposed, concealed and non-accessible designs, with different attachment arrangements.
Save the faucet's model number, parts diagram and a clear photo of the outlet. Follow the instructions for that model if considering cleaning; do not assume every end cap unscrews or force an unknown fitting with pliers. If the design is unclear, leave it assembled for inspection.
Compare a new faucet with its own specification
A newly installed water-efficient faucet may deliver a different stream from the one it replaced. EPA explains that WaterSense-labeled bathroom faucets and accessories are independently certified for both efficiency and performance. Compare the exact model's intended flow with its actual behavior instead of treating the old faucet as the only benchmark.
Send Coast & Craft the affected locations, hot/cold or spray-mode observations, timing, model and photos. Ask whether the next step is model-approved cleaning, a compatible part repair or a broader plumbing assessment. Confirm the accepted scope before buying a new faucet.
